1. Only two states (out of 50) do not have any form of legal gambling. They are:

b. Hawaii

Answer: b and e. Hawaii and Utah

2. If all states’ lotteries were combined, total sales would make it the ____th largest company in the United States.

a. 96
b. 48

d. 12

Answer: d. 12th largest. Gambling is big business.

3. Most people view lotteries as games. Answer one in each a/b pair.

a. for fun         AND         a. for private gain.
b. for money    AND         b. to show public spirit

Answer: Your opinion. According to research findings at University of Arkansas, while some play for money, the fun of playing motivates others – especially the fun of anticipating how to spend the winnings. Others fantasize about how their winnings will help certain family members.
