Recognition of Excellence in 4-H

The purpose of 4-H is to assist youth in realizing their potential and developing a positive image of themselves. The 4-H program is designed to foster a sense of confidence, a feeling of accomplishment, and a heightened level of competence. The careful, creative, balanced use of recognition is an element of successful programs.

Recognition can take many forms, from the mention of someone's name and the accompanying applause at a banquet, to a certificate of appreciation or achievement, to a $4,000.00 scholarship! Recognition...

  • Encourages continued participation.
  • Inspires interest and enthusiasm.
  • Showcases the opportunities available in 4-H.
  • Develops leadership and citizenship qualities.
  • Demonstrates impact of 4-H to decision makers and donors.
  • Rewards personal growth and improvement.
  • Communicates approval and appreciation.

In Arkansas 4-H, we recognize the following:

Youth Through Scholarships, Hall of Fame designations, and trophies, ribbons, certificates and cash prizes for winning in competitive activities.
Clubs Through County & State Honor Club Awards and Club Community Service Awards.
Adults Through the Adult Volunteer Leaders' Association Award for County Extension Agent, 4-H Program Assistant, 4-H Leader and Specialist of the Year.
Donors Through public and private acknowledgements, and the full appreciation of all involved in 4-H.
