Equine CampAdventure and Challenge

Equine Camp - Theme for 2010: Speed

12-18 year olds (7th-12th grade for 2010-2011 school year)

WHAT: This 4-day camp focuses on teaching horsemanship. Participants should be able to handle their horse, saddle, and care for them on their own. This is not a beginner program and participants should have some experience. This program is limited to 10 participants.

WHEN: July 12-15 (begins on Monday at 10:00 a.m. and ends on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.)

WHERE: C. A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center in Little Rock

Horses are housed at the training location, approximately 3 miles from the 4-H Center.

COST: $320/person

  • Pre-registration is open until March 31 - $25 deposit due at time of pre-registration
  • Final camp registration and fees due no later than June 1

No adult volunteers are required for this camp. A county agent will be assigned.

Adventure & Challenge Camp - Theme for 2010: Myths and Mysteries

13-15 year olds (8th-10th grade for 2010-2011 school year)
Adult Volunteers**

WHAT: This 3-day camp focuses on giving the camper the chance to challenge themselves. Each camper will have the opportunity to go through our ExCEL Leadership Challenge (Ropes) Course. This year’s challenge will take campers through busting some myths and solving some mysteries. The campers will also have the opportunity to canoe, fish, do arts & crafts, take part in a campfire program, meet 4-Hers from other counties, and gain an appreciation for summer camp.

WHEN:

Session I July 6-8 (begins on a Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. and ends on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.)

Session II July 12-14 (begins on a Monday at 10:00 a.m. and ends on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m.)

WHERE: C. A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center in Little Rock

COST: $145/person

** Adult Volunteers: Either an county Extension employee or adult volunteer (21 years or older) that has been through the volunteer application process must accompany each county group. A minimum of one adult per eight campers is required by 4-H Center Policy. All adults attending camp are asked to be responsible for the campers from their county and to act in a volunteer capacity during the entire camp. Adults pay regular camp fee.
