Camp Leadership Workshop - Basic

WHAT: This is a foundational workshop for those interested in working at or volunteering with a camp.

WHO: 4-H members 14 to 19 years old and Adult volunteers

WHEN: January 20-21, 2012 (Friday 6:00 p.m. to Saturday 4:30 p.m.)

WHERE: C. A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center in Little Rock*

COST: $90 early registration (deadline Dec. 2, 2011) $95 regular registration (deadline Jan. 6)

Camp Leadership Workshop - Advanced

WHAT: Training for those interested in adding to their camp leadership skills.

Subjects change each year.

2012 Subject: Teaching in the Outdoors

  • Learn activities from the national programs: Project WET, Project WILD, Project Learning Tree taught by the state coordinators for these programs
  • Learn how to identify constellations
  • Learn some nighttime camp games
  • And more!

WHO: 4-H members 14 to 19 years old
            Adult volunteers

WHEN: April 20-21, 2011 (Friday 6:30 p.m. to Saturday 3:30 p.m.)

WHERE: C. A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center in Little Rock

COST: $90 early regular (deadline Feb. 17) $95 regular registration (deadline April 2)

Counselor Opportunities

WHAT: Counselor opportunities for Forestry & Wildlife Camp, Operation Military Kids Camps, State Entrepreneur Camp, State 4-H Cloverbud Camp, State 4-H Weeklong Camp, State 4-H Junior Camps, State 4-H Adventure & Challenge Camps

Those selected have a unique opportunity to develop their leadership skills, make new friends, and learn about the inner operation of camp. Counselors are required to live at the 4-H Center while camp is in session and are required to participate in training for the camp if they are chosen as a counselor.

Counselors will need to furnish their own transportation to and from the 4-H Center. Counselors are not to stay at the 4-H Center when camp is NOT in session.

WHO: 4-H members 14 to 19 years old

WHEN:

  • Entrepreneur Camp in February
  • Other State 4-H Camps in June and July*
  • Forestry & Wildlife Camp in September
  • Operation Military Kids Camps spring, summer, fall.

*Mandatory Counselor Training for those selected for the June and July state camps - June 1-2 (Friday 6:00 p.m. to Saturday 4:00 p.m.)

WHERE: C. A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center in Little Rock

(some of the Operation Military Kids camps will NOT be at the 4-H Center)

COST: No fee. Must provide own transportation to and from the 4-H Center.

Camp Intern Opportunities

WHAT: Camp Intern Opportunities for State 4-H Weeklong Junior Camp, State 4-H Cloverbud Camp, State 4-H 3-Day Junior Camps, State 4-H Adventure & Challenge Camps

Those selected have a unique opportunity to develop their leadership skills, make new friends, and learn about the inner operation of camp. Interns are required to live at the 4-H Center for the duration of their internship.

Interns will need to furnish their own transportation to and from the 4-H Center.

WHO: Must have at least 1 year of college. 4-H and or camping background a plus.

WHEN: During summer camps (exact dates TBA)

WHERE: C. A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center in Little Rock
