Arkansas Outdoor School Summer Day Camp4-H Arkansas Outdoor School (AOS)
Summer Day Camp

Want something fun, exciting, and educational for your children this summer? Not sure where to look? Then check out 4-H Summer Day Camp.

Picture of children laying on the ground in a circle. The Arkansas Outdoor School summer day camps, based at the C.A. Vines 4-H Center west of Little Rock, provide an exciting chance for campers age 7-12 to get outside, have fun and discover the world around them.

The center is comprised of more than 220 acres of fields, forests, creeks and a six-acre flat-water lake. Camps are staffed by outdoor education professionals with a passion for connecting young people with nature.

Each session has a maximum ratio of 10 campers to one staff member, and all activities are designed to emphasize teamwork, self-esteem, communication and cooperation.

Core Programs

No matter which Core Program you choose, campers will enjoy activities such as canoeing, archery, swimming, rock climbing, hiking and arts and crafts.

Art in the Outdoors
June 13–17 and June 27–July 1

This year the Arkansas Outdoor School is offering a day camp that’s all about exploring nature through art. Participants will spend time in the woods and meadows of the C.A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center to collect raw materials that will inspire creativity and allow them to see the world around us with new eyes.

Mystery Camp
June 13–17 and July 11–15

Do you like solving mysteries, riddles, puzzles or brain-teasers? Whodunit fans can test their wits in a camp full of secret codes, fingerprints, and tools of the problem-solving trade. Camp participants will be able to indulge their inner forensics expert and exercise their brains.

Camp Discovery
June 20–24 and July 18–22

Open the doors to discovery through hands-on activities. Camp participants will gain an enhanced appreciation for the diversity of life that surrounds them. Topics may include examining the aquatic and amphibian life, flowers, trees, insects, mammals, geology and birds that make life in Central Arkansas unique.

Sports of All Sorts
June 20–24

Come play all day! Whether it’s Ultimate Frisbee, disc golf, kickball, water balloon volleyball, tennis, basketball or Wiffle ball, this camp will emphasize cooperation, sportsmanship, communication, self-esteem, and fitness. If your child likes to play sports and games of all sorts, then this is the camp for them.

Camp Construct
June 27–July 1 and July 18–22

If you like putting things together, using your hands, and being creative, then there is only one place to be this summer: Camp Construct. We will design, build and use things like rockets, rafts, toys and tools. Everything will be provided, so no need to run down to Home Depot.

Outdoor Skills
July 11–15

Want to build a shelter with what’s at hand? Outdoor Skills campers will learn archery, water purification, compass work, outdoor cooking, fishing, and canoeing — just to name a few. The session ends with a challenging and fun skills test completed by teams of campers. If your child is interested in wilderness survival and outdoor skills then they would love this camp.

SEEK (Science Enrichment Education for Kids)
July 25–29

Have fun in the sun while exploring the wonders of science. Daily activities include stomping down a stream or taking a hike to investigate, identify and learn about the different organisms that live in these distinct habitats. Add canoeing, rock climbing, and daily swim time, and you have a great opportunity to combine fun, friendship, and learning!
