Download4-H Centennial Kick-off
October 4, 2007 – Jonesboro, AR

We would like to thank the 4-H Tech Team for their contribution of these video clips.

Audio/Video Script:

[4-H Speech] 4-H has provided opportunities for young people like myself for 100 years now, and will continue for 100 more.

[4-H Singer] And I thank my lucky stars to be living here today. Because the flag still stands for freedom and you can’t take that away.

[4-H Speaker] and with your hands you have leadership skills, and your leadership skills will last you a life time. It has made me strong in my school. I’m class vice-president and I’m a 4-H president. It helps you with many things.

[Nan Snyder] My family is four generations of 4-H. They are not all in it right now, but they all testify to loving 4-H. My mother started out as a 4-Her and in her club she started out canning tomatoes. Then my children came along, and they chose citizen as their project, and they got to travel all over the nation. And the grandchildren came along an they love community service and doing thing for people is very important.

[Speaker] Speaking about 4-H

[4-H Mime] Music

[Speaker] “I always liked the 4-H motto, Make the Best Better and we always thought of our kids as the best.”

[4-H Speaker] I’ve been a member of the Cross County Soaring Eagles 4-H club for five years now. Through 4-H I’ve been able to do a project called managing rice for ducks. I got to meet the governor at the capitol, and I received a certificate a seventy-five dollar bond and a gift certificate from ducks unlimited.

[4-H Dancers] Music

[Adult speaker] I didn’t find that one 4-H project that spoke to my heart until the Arkansas 4-H program put together a Arkansas 4-H performing art troupe. And we put together a motivational program that we took all over the state, and we performed.

[4-H Speaker] 4-H taught me that I didn’t have to be a follower, I could be a leader. I can put myself out there and I can accomplish. I can stand up here and I can speak to you and I can communicate.

[4-H Speaker] 4-Her talking about the challenges and opportunities 4-H allowed him to have.

[4-H Speaker] 4-H will take you places that no other organization can take you. It changes lives and let’s people have second chances. In one sense, it’s like this huge family. It’s always bringing someone in and making them feel like a brother or sister.
