Arkansas 4-H Ambassador Re-Certification Policy

State 4-H Ambassadors are inducted and/or recognized at the Arkansas 4-H O-Rama each year, usually in late July or early August. Ambassadors will have from the conclusion of the Arkansas 4-H O-Rama until July 1 of the following year to complete their re-certification requirements. Ambassadors who do not meet the re-certification requirements by July 1 may reapply the following year, but will not be eligible to participate in the ambassador program for one year. Note: Ambassadors making application for a state 4-H office must submit their re-certification report with their application and must have met the re-certification requirements at the time of application.

To re-certify for the following year, state 4-H Ambassadors must not have turned 19 years old during the current calendar year (4-H members who are 19 as of December 31 no longer meet the age requirements for 4-H) and must:

• Make at least two presentations promoting 4-H (audience must be primarily non-4-H) during the re-certification period.
• Complete at least two of the following criteria during the re-certification period:

• Attend the Arkansas 4-H Ambassador Workshop and Teen Leader Conference.

• Judge a county 4-H O-Rama activity.

• Conduct a subject matter or record book workshop at the club or county level.

• Assist with the organization of a 4-H club or group.

• Preside at a major county activity such as the County Achievement Banquet, Fashion Festival, or Talent Show.

• Prepare a 4-H promotional exhibit and display it in a prominent location in the county or state.

• Promote 4-H through two radio spots or one TV spot.

Note: Additional qualifying criteria may be approved by sending a written request to the 4-H Youth Development Office at least two weeks prior to the date approval is needed.

Submit the Arkansas 4-H Ambassador Re-certification Report to your county Extension office by July 1 each year. (Note: Ambassadors making application for a state 4-H office must submit their re-certification report with their application and must have met the re-certification requirements at the time of application). For each presentation and/or criteria, the report must include the date, location, composition of audience, number attending and title of presentation and length of presentation. This report will require the signature of the ambassador's 4-H parent or guardian, and County Extension Agent verifying your accomplishments and certifying that you have met the above requirements and are eligible to continue to serve as a state 4-H Ambassador. These reports are due to the 4-H Youth Development Office by July 15 and these Ambassadors will be recognized at the Arkansas 4-H O-Rama.
